Typically, stairwells to a lower level are secluded in a hallway or behind a door. In this project, the stair is encased by cable rail and half walls. This allows light from the main level to reach into the basement. It also enables clear lines of sight between the front door and the living space. Entrances to the bedrooms surround the stair, this creates a defined hallway space while reaping the benefits of an open concept plan.
This home is still in the beginning design phase but will soon be unique and modestly sized home in a neighborhood in Madison.
